New travel rules for New Zealand from 1 October!?


The New Zealand Government has introduced a new travel requirement for some visitors and transit passengers. It’s called the NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) and travelers need to request theirs via the official mobile app or website. Approval can take up to 72 hours, so get yours before you go.?

From 1 October, travellers who need an NZeTA and attempt to travel without one will be denied boarding.

Important information for passengers travelling with the 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro

Due to a global recall by Apple of a number of 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptops, and in the interest of safety, Fiji Airways guests are required to place any 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptops only in carry-on baggage (Cabin Baggage). 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptops are not permitted in checked baggage until further notice. Guests connecting on to other airlines are advised to also check on the 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptop restrictions of those airlines.

Advisory: Persons Travelling to Japan

Outbreaks of African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, avian influenza and other infectious diseases have been occurring in Asia and other countries all over the world.

Pork, beef, chicken and other meat products are prohibited from being brought into Japan. Persons who bring these products without permission will be prosecuted with penal servitude for a term up to three years or a fine up to one million yen.

Persons who have meat products or have visited places with livestock and persons who will come in to contact with livestock in Japan must visit the “Animal Quarantine Counter” before customs inspection.??

Advisory: Hong Kong Situation

We are closely monitoring the situation in Hong Kong and assessing its impact on our schedule. At present, we plan to operate our Nadi-Hong Kong and Hong Kong-Nadi services as per schedule. Should this change, we will reach out and advise guests accordingly through the contact details registered in their booking.

Fiji Airways advises guests on our Nadi-Hong Kong and Hong Kong-Nadi flights to check-in early to avoid any delays. Our online check-in is open 24 hours prior to departure, while check-in desks at Hong Kong open from 12.30pm. Guests are advise to pass through Immigration Control at their earliest convenience.???

In line with the stance taken by aviation regulators in our region, and an increasing number of operators worldwide, Fiji Airways, together with the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji, has taken the decision to temporarily ground its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft until more information is known about the cause of the Ethiopian Airlines accident.

We would like to stress that Fiji Airways, together with the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji, continue to have full confidence in the airworthiness of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, and in the skilled and experienced Fiji Airways pilots and engineers who operate them.

Since Fiji Airways commenced operating the Boeing 737 MAX in December 2018, the aircraft has proven to be reliable and efficient, and continuous flight data monitoring has not identified any issues that would give rise to a cause for concern.

However, out of deference to the position taken by regulators in our region, and in response to the concerns expressed by the general public, both Fiji Airways and the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji have agreed that the most appropriate course is to impose this temporary grounding. We will continue to monitor developments closely, and this decision will be reviewed in light of any new information.



Fiji Airways Statement # 5 - MAX B737 MAX 8

?The below statement follows the temporary grounding of Fiji Airways’ Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Fiji Airways will use its existing Boeing 737 NG aircraft as well its Airbus A330 fleet to replace flights which were to be operated by the MAX 8s. Some flight times may be impacted as a result, and all affected customers will be notified of any change in their flight schedules.

Customers wishing to query their flight schedules can contact Fiji Airways Reservations, however, there may be extended waiting times. Customers are requested to ensure their direct contact details in their bookings are up-to-date. If your flights are booked through a travel agency or third party agency, please contact them.

Fiji Airways Statement #4
Issued 10pm 12 March 2019

Fiji Airways, in compliance with the directive by Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), has suspended all Boeing 737 MAX 8 operations to/from Australia. While Fiji Airways is confident in the airworthiness of our Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and our robust training programme, we respect CASA’s position. As such, we will be changing the aircraft type operating to/from Sydney, Brisbane. Melbourne and Adelaide until further advised. Some schedule changes are likely and affected customers will be notified. We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and remain in constant contact with all relevant state regulators and authorities. The safety of our passengers and crew is, and always will be, our number one priority.


ESTA Applications

23 December 2018

Fiji Airways wishes to alert all customers to apply for ESTA no later than 72 hours before departing for the United States. The US government has announced that real-time approvals will no longer be available and arriving at the airport without a previously approved ESTA will likely result in being denied boarding.
